‘Arrow’ season 7: Beth Schwartz will be the new showrunner, Phil Klemmer gets full control of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’
Just after CW announced an early renewal to all five series of the DC/Berlanti Prods. universe, the network announced that there will be new leadership on Arrow for season 7.
THR reports that Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim will be moving over to a consulting position for that series and Legends of Tomorrow, while Wendy Mericle will be exiting the Arrowverse altogether. Beth Schwartz is being promoted to Arrow showrunner, while Phil Klemmer will become the sole showrunner of Legends (which he co-executive produced with Guggenheim in the past).
Guggenheim Tweeted “Going out with a bang,” as the show concluded shooting its season finale for season 6.
The Arrowverse already shoot things up when Andrew Kreisberg (EP of The Flash and Supergirl) was fired following sexual harassment allegations. In the wake of his removal, Todd Helbing became the showrunner for The Flash, while Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller became co-showrunners of Supergirl.
Greg Berlanti praised Schwartz, who worked as his assistant during Everwood, in a statement: “We are all so incredibly thrilled to announce Beth Schwartz as the new showrunner of Arrow. She has been a source of some of the show’s most exciting and memorable moments from the beginning. Beth is a true leader and a captivating storyteller, and we all can’t wait for the audience to see what she and her team dream up as they take Arrow into its next big chapter.”
