Author of Kermit Gosnell book details how their abortion beliefs changed, ‘These babies sent Gosnell to prison’
A new book exploring the case of the abortionist dubbed “America’s most prolific serial killer” has been released and as the March For Life happens all over America, the conversation over abortion couldn’t be more important. Co-authors Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney detail the case against Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion doctor who executed babies born after botched abortions and was convicted on links to the death of at least one woman — Karnamaya Mongar.
“Reading the testimony and sifting through the evidence in the case in the research for this book and for writing the script of the movie has been brutal,” said McElhinney. “I have had a profound sense of the presence of evil in the actions of Gosnell and his staff and their complete lack of conscience.”
Gosnell routinely carried out illegal late-term abortions, delivering babies alive and then used scissors to sever their spines.– a practice he called “snipping.” The bodies were disposed of nearby in a river where the crabs could devour the corpses.
Ann confessed that investigating the case “changed her thoughts about the practice of abortion forever.”
“I am absolutely certain that the dead babies spoken of in court were unique people whom the world will now never know. I hope this book and the movie go some way to mark the fact that they lived and in their short lives made a difference,” said McElhinney.
She added: “These babies sent Gosnell to prison. But more than that, they are the most eloquent evidence we have ever had of the reality of abortion.”
“This story can change hearts and minds; it has mine.”
The book was released in the same week as thousands of pro-lifers gathered to mark the legalisation of abortion in America.
The annual gathering is to mark the 1973 court case Roe v Wade which opened the way for abortion in the USA.
