Building 429’s Jason Roy previews Winter Jam 2018, talks ‘This Place,’ making music
The biggest Christian tour is in full swing and Jason Roy from Building 429 talked with Brandon Jones about Winter Jam 2018 and what fans can expect.
“Winter Jam is kind of it’s own monster,” he says, explaining the appeal of ten different acts at one venue for the low price of $15. “We love it. We have a great time. What’s not to love? Huge crowd, watch people having a whole lotta fun and you get the opportunity to go out and showcase your best music.”
Building 429 will be present with award winning artists Skillet, Kari Jobe, KB, Jordan Feliz and organizer Newsong. Christian comedian John Crist will be on hand with Nick Hall giving a devotion and a “Pre-Jam Party” lineup of Dan Bremnes, Mallory Hope and Westover.
Jason and Brandon discuss the set, working in new songs from the current album “Unashamed.”
“If you back up…you generally find a lot of hours,” he explained to the months and months of changes to the set list to get the perfect mix.
“I just changed the whole set again tonight.”
Speaking of “Unashamed” Jason opened up about their new song “This Place” and working on the album on tour.
“It still comes down to the song,” he says, talking about working through 20 or more songs to get that “good one.”
He confessed the struggles of writing, how “This Place” has “become an anthem for me” and hope it helps listeners with their “personal struggles as well.”
The lineup for Winter Jam is jammed packed, but tickets are only $15 at the door. Visit jamtour.com to get more information, find a tour date near you.
