Disney teases live-action Winnie the Pooh with ‘Christopher Robin’ poster

Disney is ramping up their promotions and a live-action Winnie the Pooh movie Christopher Robin gets a poster with a teaser trailer due today.

While not called a remake, this movie is very much in line with Disney’s smash hit updates like Beauty and the BeastThe Jungle Book, and Cinderella as it brings a new iteration of the Winnie the Pooh story to the big screen.

Finding Neverland and Quantum of Solace filmmaker Marc Forster directs this new tale, which stars Ewan McGregor as the grown up titular character ,who has “lost his way.”

Now it’s up to his childhood friends to help him remember his past, loving self as Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, and others venture into our world.

If this is all sounds eerily similar to Hook, it’s because it kind of is.

This project actually originated with acclaimed indie filmmaker Alex Ross Perry writing and directing, but he departed the director’s chair and the screenplay is now credited to Perry and Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) with a story by Perry.

Stay tuned for that trailer. Check out the trailer HERE

The film also stars Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter) as Christopher’s wife Evelyn, Bronte Carmichael as his daughter Madeline, and Mark Gatiss (Sherlock) as Christopher’s boss Keith Winslow and features the voices of Jim Cummings as Winnie the Pooh; Chris O’Dowd as Tigger; Brad Garrett as Eeyore; Toby Jones as Owl; Nick Mohammed as Piglet; Peter Capaldi as Rabbit; and Sophie Okonedo as Kanga.

Christopher Robin opens in theaters on August 3rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for Christopher Robin:

In the heartwarming live action adventure “Disney’s Christopher Robin,” the young boy who embarked on countless adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with his band of spirited and lovable stuffed animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside. Christopher Robin is stuck in a job where he is overworked, underpaid and facing an uncertain future. He has a family of his own, but his work has become his life, leaving little time for his wife and daughter, and he has all but forgotten his idyllic childhood spent with a simple-minded, honey-loving stuffed bear and his friends. But when he is reunited with Winnie the Pooh, now tattered and soiled from years of hugs and play, a spark is rekindled, and he is reminded of the endless days of childlike wonder and make believe that defined his youth, when doing nothing could be considered something. Following an unfortunate mishap with Christopher Robin’s briefcase, Pooh and the rest of the gang including Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger, step out of the forest and into London to return the crucial possessions…because best friends will always be there for you.
